The second great film of 2012 (after The Avengers) and Ridley Scott’s first great film since the director’s cut of Kingdom of Heaven. It is not the equal of Blade Runner or Alien; but it takes everything you think you know of that world and turns it on its head. It harkens back to the 1979 film, but establishes an identity all its own. People expecting a horror/action movie may be disappointed; Prometheus is more purely sci-fi and is more ambitious than most movies even attempt. GRADE: A
